Q: How hard should parents push if their teen isn’t interested in school?
A: When a child or teen is disinterested in school for the reason of parents who badger them about grades and performance, the parents may well be advised to release their child from that wheel of performance.
If the parent asks their teen, “Can you live with your choice if it reduces your future choices?” it can be a wake up call for the child as they come to realize that the door to their own successes must be opened by them. But if a child is getting good grades and has a good attitude but is not at all interested in school, they have another calling in life. It may be something that neither parent has any idea about but the child feels.
If this is your child’s condition, allow them to follow all hobbies that consume their interest. This is a remedy for loving their life! Encourage them to reach out and then let them fly! Life is as complicated as we make it. It’s up to each of us to release what seems like a never-ending struggle and trust that Jesus has a plan that gives each the wings to fly!
