Q: What are some things a person can do to help themselves live a happier life?

A: There are easy steps if one is willing to take them into practice. A few include:

Feel upset no more! Ask yourself to drive your own car! No matter what, do not allow others to take you where you do not want to go. If what they say or do feels bad, tell yourself, “It doesn’t matter.” When you get into the practice of telling yourself that their matters are not your matters, you uncover how much more does matter in life that is fun, sweet, happy, care-free, easy-going, joyful, etc. Soon, your life is filled with the matter (the physical properties) of even more love!

Ask for help more often. Fewer and fewer books are being written about learning how to really get things done easily and quickly. By asking for help, you cut your share of the work down while allowing a special partnership to build with another person. Awaken your independence when you are alone by enjoying yourself. Awaken your dependence upon love by including others in your life more often!

Believe in yourself! By accepting yourself as the most important person you know, you will be able to accept your many gifts more readily. Millions of people have God-given gifts harnessed in them awaiting the day they feel they are more special to themselves than anyone else. Feel God’s love for YOU and the separation between you and God will fade. You will believe in the true miracle of who you really are while answering Jesus’ prayer for a planet of loving peacemakers.

See people – all peoples – as your equals. The most desperate souls on this planet are those who see themselves as either superior or inferior to others. While they pursue other’s opinions, they always weigh it against their own. They argue constantly with themselves (and others) trying to get a grip on who they are. (NOTE: To see yourself as the most important person you know does not mean you see yourself as the most important person anyone else knows. Each person is equally important!)

Try out new things more often. Become not only the most important person you know, become the most interesting! By trying new things you adapt more easily to the many things that life throws at you. Learn a new language, read a new category of books, take up knitting, do volunteer work, explore gardening, see through a camera’s lens, feel the joy of ethnic cooking, explore a new instrument. (Even a harmonica can lift your spirits wherever you are!)

Love and Light,

LYNN SCOTT
