Q: How can I learn to handle disappointments better?

A: For those who feel disappointment too easily and deeply, somewhere in their past their parents put upon their shoulders the job of care taking them.  It was thrust upon them in ways one might not even be aware of, other than to see that the child was always trying to please their parents.

When a child carries these tendencies into adulthood, they continue to push and push and push to please others.  It’s hard on their hearts, their minds, their spirits and their emotional well-being because almost no one will know how or where to begin to tend to their needs since they go back to childhood times.

From now on, see that whenever someone says or does something that somehow disappoints you, take it as a life lesson that you are supposed to receive these blows until you accept that you cannot be responsible for anyone else’s happiness.  Eventually, after you accept your blows - but know that they’re not your fault - you will escape life lessons of bitter disappointment.

To help mend your soul: Read childhood stories to yourself where the outcome shows that all things are possible when you believe.  These stories are invaluable for the hole in the heart of those millions who never received the stories of love and independence they so richly deserved.
