Q: Why did God allow polygamy in the Bible?

gabriel publishing

A:  Genesis reveals that the Earth is born of light.  It reveals that as the body of Earth took shape and form it revealed both land and creatures, great and small.  But it did not reveal that mankind should rule the world through its own desires.  Only that mankind should obey the rule of God.

Early on men of power and influence began to interpreted God’s will as their own.  Under the cloak of seeking God’s approval they sought the envy of others.  As it turned out, mankind had images of its own glory.  Glory that came through power.  Power that came through wealth.  Wealth that came through greed.  And greed that came through crimes of thievery over those enslaved or in servitude.  Some went so far as to take ‘God’s will to care for the impoverished and the stricken’ as their own gain for power over servants, taking women and even children who were not their own.

God was - as God is - a still, small voice inside every man and woman teaching right from wrong.  But once mankind occupied the Earth long enough, God’s voice became less and less often filtered through the heart and more and more often filtered through the mind.  It became a still, small voice with ego attached to its reasons, and reckless behaviors attached to its results.

After God’s voice was terribly mistaken as God’s will, The Lord came to Earth through Jesus Christ.  Through his keen desire to reach his Father in Heaven through his heart, he fought back the tidal waves of mankind’s desire to seek power through envy, greed, and even the heart.  For Jesus saw that men often had desire for the hearts of many women.  He saw that men often carried their need for the flesh into their hearts and called it love when it was simply carnal worshipping.

The Bible teaches of these men and women of fortune AND misfortune.  It plays out for all mankind the likely outcome of human choices should one opt to hear God’s voice through the mind vs. the heart.

Love the Bible with all your heart! It illustrates for you every decision reached for by mankind.  Remember - always, always, always - choices made through reason are met with disastrous outcomes.  Choices made through love are rewarded with more love!

Believe and come home,
