Q:  My daughter is addicted to drama.  Her life is a chaotic roller coaster of emotions.  What can be done to help her?

A:  Invite your daughter to become the solution to her own future.  Tell her that no matter what, all that she needs and wants has to come through her.  No matter what.  In almost every way from that moment forward she will have the seed planted in her thoughts that if she blames someone for her life of chaos she will have to first examine her own choices.

When she begins to examine her own choices, she will begin to see that in her need to feel important – to be the center of attention, albeit through drama – she has allowed chaos to reign; she has allowed ‘need’ to teach her vs. love.  When she sees that all choices are hers, in fact, to make, she may come to the wisdom of wanting her life to be characterized through patient optimism.

Become more patient as your child adjusts to this new rhythm of life.  If you are impatient, her need will be to take you to task as well as others, for she will decide that her rhythm of learning life’s lessons is not through love but through the timetable of others…which is never heart driven and almost always results in a child acting out.

More and more Americans are riding waves of disasters - waves of drama - in their lives because they have too much time and too much money to spend and waste.  Few reach down deep in their daily lives to feel grateful for their gifts.  Become a parent who asks to feel their child’s gifts, daily, vs. their child’s shortcomings.  Become a corporate leader who invites the leadership of employees’ ideas to govern while you steer the ship through the choppy waters of corporate greed knowing that the body of God governs your corporate family, above all else.

Believe in the patience quotient as the single missing factor in America’s future right now.  Believe that as the soul of our country – borne from a history of religious oppression – is being set free, that we learn to compliment rather than complain, plan for the good rather than the worst, reach for the glory of God vs. the tides of disaster.

Each morning while preparing for your day, ask Jesus to guide you through Earth’s choppy waters by elevating your thoughts.  Remember, Jesus gave his life for you so that you could come into his life of love called Heaven.  Ask to feel Jesus in your day and before long (be patient!), your life will reconstitute itself in ways that you can only describe as miraculous!

Love and be loved,
