Q: What are the best words of comfort to offer the bereaved, especially when you do not know them well, or know of their religious affiliation?
A: It is known to those who have come Home that the most difficult part of the parting is for those who remain on this side. The bereaved are suffering in ways most never realized possible for the heart or mind. Please let it be known to whomever you are lending your heart that although their loved one has come Home, it is possible to keep that person alive through the love they share with that person. Whenever a man or woman receives a card or letter confirming the belief that there is a life ever-after where we all receive the love we share with one another, it bathes that person in a very specific light which, in fact, dismantles the horrific and debilitating grief that can overcome a life. Please open your heart and freely share your belief of such a plane (where love and the beloved always ascend). Ask the bereaved to feel the love you share for them and their beloved, even if you don’t know them well, for it always gives them a tie or bond of love with you that is essential for their mental and emotional well-being. Consider the strength of Heaven…it depends upon love AND The Light. It depends upon those who replace fear and grief with words of love AND light. Your idea of love ever-after IS The Light which so desperately needs to be shed! You are a piece of Heaven that has been prayed for, because you have asked to have the courage to reduce the darkness and replace it with The Light, no matter what. FOLLOW UP: Come Home knowing that the ones you love - who have already crossed over - are asking that you build a bridge of peace to them. If anything remains between you and your deceased love one(s) that feels like rejection or sorrow, ask that the forces of love repair your heart. When you pray for this to occur, the matter of dysfunction between you and your family member(s) will lift. As sorrow lifts you will feel a narrowing of the pressure that has been upon your heart and your head, for the forces of love will bathe your mind and body, not pressure it. Believe in the story of God AS LOVE and ask to feel God inside and out. You will believe because you are the vessel that keeps God alive! Love & Light, LYNN SCOTT |
